Top UK baby names

Jack and Olivia reign as the top names in Britain, according to the latest survey by Office for National Statistics from birth registrations in England and Wales.

Top ten girls' names

Ruby has been replaced by Olivia as the most popular girls’ name in Britain. Olivia was no. 3 in 2007 and has been climbing steadily upwards. Ruby originally came out of nowhere when Charlotte Church named her daughter Ruby in 2007.

Many names have remained in the top ten for at least a decade, including Emily, Jessica, Chloe and Sophie. Lexi is a newcomer on the list, jumping 40 places in a year and no doubt making its way up to the top ten in time.

The top ten:
  • Olivia
  • Ruby
  • Emily
  • Grace
  • Jessica
  • Chloe
  • Sopie
  • Lily
  • Amelia
  • Evie
