I have always had a sweet tooth but since falling pregnant, I crave salty foods, like chips and pickles. Why is that?

Fit Pregnancy replies:

It's normal for a pregnant woman to crave foods that she usually doesn't eat. However, you should be careful not to take in too much salt as this can result in hypertension (high blood pressure). You also should be aware of pregnancy-induced hypertension, which typically develops in the third trimester and affects about seven to eight per cent of all pregnant women. While a high salt intake during pregnancy does not cause this phenomenon, it can place you at greater risk of developing it.
