About half of pregnant women experience constipation at some point and about 25 per cent have it throughout pregnancy. Researchers have found that those most likely to be afflicted were taking iron supplements or had a previous history of constipation.
To treat the problem, dietician Dianne Ivison recommends mixing half muesli and half Kellogg’s All-Bran Hi-Fibre cereal with cold milk for breakfast, drinking plenty of water and exercising.
